This is my first try on Opera Mini using my iPod Touch. Mine is iPod Touch 1Gen with 3.1.3 firmware.

My comment on Opera mini is, its speed is lighting. Fast and user-friendly.

OS 4.0 Jailbroken, how about 3.1.3?

As you could have seen, Geohot has recently demonstrated that he had jailbroken the beta version of the future Firmware 4.0.

Just keep in mind that the exploit recently discovered to have an untethered jailbreak on the iPod Touch 3G was realised with Firmware 3.1.3
We can then expect an update of Blackra1n on all iDevices (included new iboot) and on all Firmwares such as 3.1.3, 3.2 (iPad) and the future 4.0.
The Dev Team, with the help of Chronic Dev, and with the exploit of Comexkstd was also realised on Firmware 3.1.3 and they have also demonstrated the jailbreak on the beta version beta of Firmware 4.0.

Steve Jobs: No more update for iPhone 2G

The iPhone OS 4 preview page on Apple’s website states that iPhone OS 4 will work with iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and the second and third-generation iPod Touch

Steve Jobs also responded to a user to confirm that iPhone OS 4 won't work with iPhone 2G and iPod Touch 1G.

iPad Mini?

It is just over a week since the iPad launched in the US. However, we are already hearing rumors of Apple working on an iPad with a different form factor.

According to reports on Taiwanese publicationDigiTimes, Cupertino might launch a mini iPad as early as the first quarter of 2011.

In a brief article today, DigiTimes Research senior analyst Mingchi Kuo is reported to have unearthed information about the "mini iPad" which will focus on the eReader market and could be targeted at users who may not have a great need for interactive browsing. DigiTimes reports:

"Kuo, citing talks with upstream component sources, said Apple's smaller-size iPad will be priced below US$400 and will target the highly-portable mobile device market and consumers that focus mainly on reading and do not have a high demand for text input."

The report further states that the mini iPad could come with a display measuring between 5 and 7 inches.

There are already speculations following the launch of iPad that Amazon might be dropping the price of its smaller 6-inch Kindle eReader to $150. By offering a cheaper and smaller tablet device that is customized to the needs of the ebook reading population, Apple may be in a better position to take on competition in this segment.

I personally prefer the size of the iPad (9.7 inch screen) for consuming digital content and wouldn't prefer a smaller sized iPad.
